Easy Chalkboard Labels for Gift Jars

Our pets are like members of our family. That means when the holidays are here we remember our fur babies too. On Thanksgiving the dog and the cats get a can of food and during Christmas they all get something from Santa. When we send a holiday treat to the neighbors during the holidays, we send something over to their dogs too. Here's a great idea to easily add a homemade touch to just about anything!

I love to have these little labels around, so I make lots and I slap them on anything I can. If you are looking for a cute, semi-homemade gift for the holidays, tag for a gift, label for a potluck or greeting card, dog or human will appreciate these charming labels.

I make these labels out of Chalkboard tape.

These are similar to snowflakes in that you fold them in fours and cut one side of them. When unfolded they are perfectly symmetrical. Here are a few ideas for how to cut them, but make your own! It’s easy. Cut a piece of tape and fold it in half. Then fold it in half again. You can use the lines like I have below, or create you own. Practice on a sheet of paper first if you are worried about wasting your tape.

Take a simple wide-mouth jar, (or search the recycle bin for something nifty), wash it out, fill it with dog treats, human treats or peppermints and Hershey’s kisses.

Take a white paint pen, silver sharpie marker or a piece of chalk and sketch out whatever you like on your label. If you need a do-over take a corner of a magic eraser and gently scrub it off, or just try some rubbing alcohol to remove it and start over again.

Once you are finished, peel off the backing and stick it on your jar. And just like that you have a 3 minute craft that lets someone you know, know you love them.
